I&#8217;ll provide two ways to connect to 3G, the command line way using <a href=\"http:\/\/freshmeat.net\/projects\/wvdial\/\">wvdial<\/a> and the GUI way using <a href=\"http:\/\/umtsmon.sourceforge.net\/\">umtsmon<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Using wvdial<\/strong><br \/>\nCreate \/etc\/wvdial.conf:<br \/>\n<code><br \/>\n[Dialer Defaults]<br \/>\nNew PPPD = yes<br \/>\nDial Command = ATDT<br \/>\nDial Attempts = 1<br \/>\nModem = \/dev\/ttyUSB0<br \/>\nModem Type = Analog Modem<br \/>\nISDN = 0<br \/>\n#commented out see the comments on the post.<br \/>\n#Baud = 460800<br \/>\nUsername = user<br \/>\nPassword = pass<br \/>\nInit1 = ATZ<br \/>\nInit2 = AT&F E1 V1 X1 &D2 &C1 S<br \/>\n[Dialer cosmote]<br \/>\nPhone = *99#<br \/>\nStupid Mode = 1<br \/>\nInit3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,\"IP\",\"internet\"<br \/>\n[Dialer vodafone]<br \/>\nPhone = *99#<br \/>\nStupid Mode = 1<br \/>\nInit3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,\"IP\",\"internet\"<br \/>\n[Dialer vfPIN]<br \/>\nInit4 = AT+CPIN=1234<br \/>\n[Dialer cmPIN]<br \/>\nInit4 = AT+CPIN=5678<\/code><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>WARNING: You HAVE to change the PINs on the last part of the config<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To connect to Cosmote, plug in the usb stick:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p># wvdial cmPIN<br \/>\n# wvdial cosmote\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>To connect to Vodafone, plug in the usb stick:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p># wvdial vfPIN<br \/>\n# wvdial vodafone<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>2) Using umtsmon<\/strong><br \/>\nConnection->Manage Profiles and create the necessary profiles with settings that look like these:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.void.gr\/kargig\/blog\/wp-content\/umtsmon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.void.gr\/kargig\/blog\/wp-content\/umtsmon-219x300.jpg\" alt=\"umtsmon\" title=\"umtsmon\" width=\"219\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-673\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.void.gr\/kargig\/blog\/wp-content\/umtsmon-219x300.jpg 219w, https:\/\/www.void.gr\/kargig\/blog\/wp-content\/umtsmon.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 219px) 100vw, 219px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nUsername and Password does not really matter.
